Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has unveiled ambitious development plans for Malkangiri, including a Rs 4,000 crore cement factory set to provide jobs for 2,000 local youth.

On a three-day visit to the southern districts, the CM outlined plans to industrialize Malkangiri and make it a key player among Odisha's districts. He highlighted the establishment of the cement plant as a major step in this direction.

The state government plans a six-lane highway connecting Malkangiri to Tiring in Mayurbhanj, along with rail links connecting Malkangiri to Jeypore and Bhadrachalam. An express highway from Jeypore to Gopalpur port will form a vital economic corridor.

The CM emphasized the importance of expediting these projects and completing them on time. Additionally, the Malkangiri airport, which has already become operational, will soon be fully functional, helping the region’s connectivity.

During his visit, over 50,000 people gathered at DNK Ground for the cultural festivities of Malyabanta Mahostav, showcasing tribal dance performances such as Lavani and Chhau.
