BITS Pilani opens smart manufacturing centre

BITS Pilani has inaugurated its Smart Manufacturing Competency Centre (SMCC) in Bengaluru’s Electronic City under its Work Integrated Learning Programmes (WILP). The facility was inaugurated by Prof. V Ramgopal Rao, Group Vice-Chancellor, along with Seshnath B, MD and CEO of Walvoil India, and G Sundar, Director of BITS Pilani WILP Division.

The centre features advanced facilities in mechatronics, machine vision, Industry 4.0 and 5.0 systems, industrial robotics, AR/VR, and fast prototyping. It is the second competency centre established by WILP following the Automotive Competency Centre launched in Chennai recently. Another similar centre is planned in Pune within the next three months.

Through its WILP initiative, BITS Pilani provides higher education opportunities to over 50,000 working professionals annually across management and technology disciplines, alongside Masters and PhD programmes in engineering, technology, and related fields.
