Afcons Lowers Giant TBM Cutter Head at Vikhroli

Afcons Infrastructure has successfully lowered India’s largest Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) cutter head for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project at Shaft 2 in Vikhroli, Mumbai. The cutter head measures 13.5 m in diameter and weighs 354.5 tonne, and was lowered to a depth of 55 m.

The milestone marks a significant step in the execution of the country’s high-speed rail corridor and highlights the scale and complexity of underground tunnelling works involved in the project. Afcons described the achievement as a proud moment for both the company and India’s high-speed rail journey.
